Reviewer Circle

Welcome to the BumpBites Reviewer Circle

Thank you for lending your expertise. BumpBites helps millions of expecting and new parents make calm, evidence-based decisions about food and pregnancy. As a reviewer you help keep that guidance clear, safe, culturally inclusive and accurate — and you're credited by name on the articles you touch.

How it works

1. Create your account

Sign up with your email (or Google) and submit the short reviewer application. It takes about two minutes.

2. Get approved

An admin reviews your credentials. Once approved, your account is upgraded to an editor and your workspace unlocks.

3. Build your profile

Add your photo, credentials, bio and links. This is what appears in your author boxes and on your public profile page.

4. Write & review articles

Claim an unreviewed article to edit, or write a fresh one in our block editor. Submit it for admin approval — once approved it goes live under your byline.

Creating a great profile

Your profile is your professional presence on BumpBites. Parents trust people, not faceless pages. A strong profile includes:

  • A clear, friendly headshot (square, well-lit, at least 400×400px).
  • Your real credentials and current role — e.g. “MD, Obstetrician” or “RD, Maternal Nutrition”.
  • A short bio (1–2 lines) for your author byline, and a fuller bio for your profile page.
  • Links to your website, LinkedIn or professional registry so readers can verify you.

Writing & reviewing articles

From your workspace you can either review an existing article or write a brand-new one. Our editor works in visual blocks — like the WordPress editor — so you focus on the words, not the code:

  • Claim one article at a time. While you're working on an article it's locked to you. Submit it for approval before starting the next one.
  • Edit visually. Add headings, lists, quotes, tables, images, and highlight or colour text using the toolbar or the “/” block inserter.
  • Submit for approval. Your changes are queued for an admin to publish — nothing goes live until it's approved, so you can work without worry.
  • You become the author. Once your reviewed or new article is published, your name, credentials and photo appear in the author boxes, replacing the default byline.

Best practices for great articles

  • Lead with the answer. Parents are often anxious — give the safe/limit/avoid verdict early, then explain.
  • Plain language. Write for a worried parent at 2am, not for a journal. Define any clinical term you must use.
  • Cite reputable sources. Prefer NHS, NICE, ACOG, CDC, WHO, FSA and peer-reviewed research. Link them.
  • Be culturally inclusive. Foods and practices vary worldwide; avoid assuming one cuisine or healthcare system.
  • Structure for skimming. Short paragraphs, descriptive sub-headings, and a clear FAQ.
  • Stay current. Note when guidance is recent and flag anything that changes by trimester.

Content guidelines

  • Provide general information, not individual medical advice or diagnosis. Encourage readers to consult their own clinician.
  • Only submit original work. Do not copy text, images or tables from other sites or colleagues without permission.
  • No promotional, affiliate or undisclosed commercial content. Disclose any conflicts of interest to the editor.
  • Be accurate and honest. If you're unsure, say so or leave it out.
  • Respect reader privacy and never include identifiable patient information.

How your author credit appears

When your article is published, a compact author box (your photo, name and credentials) appears just below the title, and a fuller author box (your bio and a link to your profile) appears at the end of the article. This replaces the default BumpBites founder byline on the articles you author or review.

Contributor Terms

Last updated 29 May 2026. By creating an account, submitting an application, or contributing any profile information or content to BumpBites, you agree to these terms.

1. Definitions

Owner” means Shubhra Mishra, owner and operator of BumpBites.health. “Contributor”, “you” and “your” mean the expert/reviewer. “Contributions” means all content you create, edit, review, submit or provide, including articles, edits, images, captions, FAQs, comments, and your profile information (name, photo, biography, credentials and links).

2. Assignment of copyright

You hereby irrevocably assign to the Owner, exclusively and worldwide, all right, title and interest — including all copyright and related rights, for the full term of protection and any renewals — in and to all Contributions you make to BumpBites. The Owner may use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute, display and create derivative works from the Contributions in any media, with or without attribution, and may sublicense these rights.

3. Profile information

You grant the Owner the right to publish and display your profile information (name, photo, credentials, biography and links) on BumpBites and in related promotion of the content you contributed. You confirm the information you provide is accurate and that you are entitled to share it.

4. No reuse without permission

Because copyright in the Contributions is assigned to the Owner, you may notre-publish, re-sell, or reuse your Contributions (in whole or in part) elsewhere without the Owner's prior written permission. You may, of course, state publicly that you contributed to or reviewed content for BumpBites and link to it.

5. Moral rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you waive any moral rights in the Contributions in favour of the Owner. Where such rights cannot be waived, you agree not to assert them against the Owner or its licensees.

6. Your warranties

  • Your Contributions are original and do not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
  • Your Contributions are accurate to the best of your professional knowledge and properly sourced.
  • You have the qualifications and any licenses you claim, and the right to enter into these terms.

7. Editorial control & publishing

The Owner has sole editorial discretion over what is published, edited or removed. Submission of a Contribution does not guarantee publication. The Owner may edit Contributions for clarity, accuracy, style, or legal reasons.

8. No medical advice; indemnity

Contributions provide general educational information and are not a substitute for individual medical advice. You agree to indemnify and hold the Owner harmless from claims arising out of a breach of your warranties above or your own misconduct.

9. No employment; volunteer basis

Unless agreed separately in writing, contributing to BumpBites is voluntary and does not create an employment, partnership or agency relationship, and confers no right to payment.

10. Termination

Either party may end the contributor relationship at any time. The copyright assignment and license granted in respect of Contributions already made survive termination.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the Owner's place of business [jurisdiction to be confirmed by the Owner], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
